Specification of the book,

The presentation of the book “The art of Noticing “ is very different and eye catching as the author Rob Walker is a columnist and journalist covering various subjects which include design, technology, business, arts and many other.

  • An introduction to innovative Teaching Style is given by developing concentration span and enhancing the skills of observation.

  • Observational tips are introduced in a very simple style taking inspirations from many sources, conversations and interviews from the instructors on varied subjects including those of visual arts, and furniture designers too.

  • Few given tips on observation include that immediate impact of vision does not give you in depth qualities of subject, as at the first glance minute details are missed. Deep observation is to take things out of context giving attention to a particular color, shape, form or a word, e.g. hunting for shapes of flowers, leaves or a plant in a garden. Similarly hunting for contrasting qualities of material such as hard/soft or rough and smooth is necessary.

  • The book caters all age groups as the simple tips are given to sharpen observing skills and to perceive minute details. Spot something new every day as you go for a walk or take a color walk. Developing an eye of noticing added beauty and interest in an analogous and dull environment.

The significance of “The art of Noticing” is well defined by Robert Irwin, “one thing more than anything else, is learning to pay attention" as it sparks creativity, inspiration and imagination adding color and joy in everyday life.
