His publications marks a turning point in the history of Urdu journalism. They were aimed at encouraging young Muslims into fighting for independence and Hindu Muslim unity.

The book has a unique, simple and interesting style of highlighting the historical facts. Abul Kalam Azad had his first encounter with Mr.Gandhi in Delhi 1920 who presented his program of non-cooperation, non- violent and civil disobedience movement. Mr. Azad gave absolute support to his program and worked enthusiastically for the success of the movement. He was a true nationalist and was not in favor of partition of India, and described it as “divorce before marriage.”

Appendix 1 include correspondence from Mulana Abul Azad to British Government to specify system and procedure of the freedom movement.

Appendix 2 Louis Fisher has summarized the book “unlike the thirteen American colonies India won national independence not in a revolutionary war but through negotiation.

Referring to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad blame on Mr. Nehru for Partition Mr. Fisher said” It took courage to blame Nehru in considerable part for the Partition which Azan opposed from first to last.”

“Courage and honesty are the outstanding characteristics of this book as they were of the man.”
