My view and review for the book "THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN"

The book “The People Have Spoken” is a collection of the articles written by Anwar Abbas, published in the national daily newspapers i.e. Dawn, The News, Star, The Daily News, Business Recorder, Hurriyat and The Nation.

CONTENTS:

The book’s first article “The People Have Spoken” is an open letter published on the eve of election in 1994. It is addressed to the leaders the National Assembly Benazir Bhutto /Nawaz Sharif. The satire in the article is commendable highlighting that people demands and needs are utmost important that a government needs to fulfill.

The other write-ups are grouped into the following categories:

Speaking Nationally: Anwar Abbas has addressed National issues with a critical approach for intellectual integrity to provoke a sense of obligation.

Speaking Globally: The Global issues, war and it’s after effects, foreign policy and foreign aids are dealt exquisitely, the articles are thought provoking and food for thought.

Speaking Educationally: Mr. Abbas is of the view that the education should be about the cultivation of character through practical approach and not rote learning or merely learning a set of skill. He has parted valuable practical suggestions and morals in grooming youngsters. He has highlighted all the issues concerning education. Speaking about the neighbor: Having been graduated in India Mr. Abbas’s has a deep insight in Indian politics. In the article ABC of Human Rights in India, he has summed up the historical perspective and debated issues of Human Rights in a unique and mirthful style. In the write-up “A Brave New World” he has emphasized on developing a culture of acceptance and tolerance by an approach of forget and forgive.

Speaking commercially: The write-ups give essence of good economy.

Speaking from the heart: It includes series of joyful articles narrating delightful incidents.

Speaking creatively: He has very emphasized that creativity and research are the two essential elements for bringing a change in the society.

Dr. Khurshid Hasnain has given a beautiful brief on the life sketch of the writer Anwar Abbas.

I enjoyed the book "THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN" for Mr. Abbas style of expression and the message it conveyed "it is better to light a candle than curse the darkness."
