My latest post is in memory of my brother Anwar Abbas, a mentor and true friend for many of us. He had a unique and a versatile personality. He is missed by all us for his love, wit and humor.

Anwar Abbas, an eminent educationist, writer and peace activist breathed his last on Sunday, 19th February. Born in 1944 in Bombay, India, Anwar was a great grandson of the poet Maulana Altaf Husain Hali and nephew of the writer and film maker Khawaja Ahmed Abbas.

Anwar was an accomplished student of Modern School, New Delhi. He was awarded in 1959 "The Student of the Year" and received the award by Krishna Menon the President of India. The next year he was awarded for being "The Best All round Student" of the year. Mr. Nehru the Prime Minister of India, presented him the award RUDRA.
He migrated to Pakistan in 1986 and led a very active and full life as Administrator of Habib Public School and as a contributor to local and national dailies including Dawn.

Anwar Abbas wrote with wit, humor and passion for a variety of social and political issues. He got his columns published in a book form in 2002 in a collection titled “The People Have Spoken” and a second collection of articles on education “Three Paths to Nowhere” in 2006.

He was an indefatigable activist for Pak-India peace and people’s understanding. Among his many efforts in this domain was his organization of tours of Habib Public hockey teams to play friendly matches with their Indian counterparts.

He was an eloquent and witty orator, a passionate concerned citizen and a forceful writer,

Annu Bhai a jewel of a person, life will not be same without him. He has left behind him a very large number of grieving family, friends and students.
