Enjoying Summers

I enjoy communicating and facilitating with children, a day in this summer vacations I planned Collaborative Art activity with my grandchildren of ages seven, eleven and thirteen. They were informed that collectively they are going to make an art project on the topic of summers in one hour. They were given the recycling material, empty yogurt cups, ice cream cups, scraps of papers cloth and glue.

All the children discussed among themselves what they want to do in summers, and how can they utilize the given material to make an art project. Muhammad made the draft of what he wanted to do than removed the covering from the yogurt cups and added his drawings to them. Sakina wanted to be at the beach made the bucket by adding string to the empty yogurt cup. She tagged the cups one over the other to make a figure, removed the colored paper to make a face and made proportioned sun hats by cutting the cups. Mustafa made variety of ice-creams and her sister helped him for making an ice cream man.

I was thrilled to see children’s creativity and their imagination, the project was completed within an allotted time with their collective efforts
