FICUS ELASTICA is the Latin name for Rubber Plants, they are favored indoor plants easy to grow and care. They have distinctive and gorgeous leaves and are named accordingly Burgendy, Ruby, and Tineke.

Rubber Plant Ficus Elastica is a nutrient dense herb beneficial for wounds cuts sore muscles and joint pains. Previously it was an important source of natural rubber. Their presence make the environment fresh; according to studies conducted by NASA.

Care of Rubber Plants:

Sunlight and Temperature: They need moderate humidity, and temperature between 50` F (10`C) to 85` F (29`C). For Indoor care the plants should be placed near the window; bright light make the green color richer. For the uniform light distribution, rotating the pots is important.

Watering and Cleaning the leaves of the Plant: The plant need to be watered with normal temperature when the top inch of the pot soil becomes dry making sure that water penetrate in all the roots and extra water is leaked out from the holes of the pot base. The leaves need to be clean monthly with clean water and then polished with lemon juice and water using equal proportion of water and lemon juice. Coconut oil can also be used instead of lemon juice. Pruning or clipping of the top leaf is done to avoid vertical growth of the tree and to make it denser. The fluid or the sap comes out on clipping the leaves, therefore the clipped portion should be held tightly for few seconds to stop the sap, as it causes irritation to some to people.

Ficus Elastica Burgendy are my favorite indoor plants they are elegant and have beautiful, striking dark green leaves and with red mid vein. I love their fresh and lively look.
